Journey to law
James studied Law at the University of Essex before undertaking the Bar Course in London.
James was called to the Bar of Middle Temple in 2022 and aspires to become a practising barrister.
Prior to joining Jones Chase, James discovered a passion for employment law as a volunteer with the Free Representation Unit (FRU), representing individuals in Employment Tribunal claims.
Since joining the firm, James has developed a keen interest in all aspects of the firm’s practice, from advising companies and HR professionals to assisting individuals with tribunal claims.
James assists our senior lawyers on all aspects of UK employment law. Alongside his work at the firm, James has gained extensive experience in civil litigation as a self-employed County Court advocate, having represented clients in over 300 hearings.
Most people face employment issues at some point in their lives. I am particularly drawn to this field because of how relatable it is to everyday people and the practical solutions it often requires. I find it both engaging and rewarding to work on cases that have a visible impact on the people involved.
I initially joined the firm in June 2023 to provide temporary paralegal support. Having been so impressed with the firm’s camaraderie I re-joined in May 2024.
I am keen to incorporate employment law into my future practice and see the work Jones Chase conducts as invaluable experience in deepening my knowledge in the area.
The firm strives to ensure a supportive and flexible environment for all its members – something which is notably refreshing when faced with the demands of legal work.
Providing excellent client care is a key part of job satisfaction for me. Knowing that my work makes a difference and seeing the positive outcomes of my efforts is extremely rewarding.
