Journey to law
Shona watched a programme on TV in the early 80s called Paperchase about a law lecturer in Boston and loved the case analysis each week. From there, she went on to study law at university and chose employment law as an option in her last year. It was at the time of the miners’ strike and Shona studied the changes to collective rights at that time. It made her appreciate the difference a law (good or bad) can make to everyone, every day.

Shona has been a highly successful employment lawyer since 1990. She primarily advises IT and pharmaceutical clients. Her work covers contentious and non-contentious areas.
Shona also works pro bono for two charities on a regular basis and lectures on employment law at Greenwich University.
There are employment lawyers and then there’s Shona! I first started working with Shona in 1993 and whichever organisation I have moved to, I have made sure that Shona is our employment Lawyer of choice. Shona has an excellent understanding of Employment Law but, more importantly for me is her ability to quickly understand the commercial context of each situation and offer common sense legally sound solutions. She has an amazing memory for recall and really does go the extra mile for her clients. She is a pleasure to work with.
I have personally worked with Shona for over 8 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else for Employment Law advice, assistance and representation. Shona has supported our UK business through 2 major global acquisitions which at times has involved complex restructuring with change to positions and policies, she is highly professional, experienced and knowledgeable and will always point out where client costs can be saved! I have always felt fully supported and have every confidence in implementing Shona’s recommendations, she is invaluable to our business and I’m sure very many more!
I love helping people with their problems and strongly believe that every problem has a solution. Working in law allows me to make a significant difference for others on a daily basis.
I worked in a large city firm on qualifying and I loved it. When I had children, I set up my own law firm and carried on working. I loved the flexibility. Now it is time to move back to a firm and work with other people. I chose Jones Chase as I like its ethos and we have a perfect values match.
Its ability to provide professional commercial advice across the business sectors and individuals whilst maintaining a flexible, friendly atmosphere.
New issues arising which I know I can help to resolve.
